our 20th season
Machiavelli's The Prince

a new play based on the infamous ‘Handbook for Tyrants’
written and directed by Gary Graves
featuring Mark Farrell* & Cole Alexander Smith
A Central Works Method Play developed in collaboration with Richard Frederick, Michael Navarra & Jan Zvaifler
July 17 - August 22
Following last summer's sold-out world premiere run at Central Works, Machiavelli’s The Prince returns to the captivating setting of the Berkeley City Club. As the second offering in the company's 20th Anniversary Season (1991-2010), this engrossing drama pits "Master Machiavelli" against the new Duke of Florence in a clash of faith and reason. Are human beings essentially good or fundamentally untrustworthy? Does the end ever justify the means? Back with a new cast and more immediate relevance than ever.
Costumes by Tammy Berlin, sound by Gregory Scharpen and stage management by Louel Señores.
