THE WYRD SISTERS

THE WYRD SISTERS

a NEW COMEDY from the same team that gave you EVERY INCH A KING

June 13 - July 27 2003
at the Berkeley City Club
2315 Durant Avenue

This summer THE WYRD SISTERS arrive at the Berkeley City Club on June 13 and move to the Thick House in San Francisco on July 25. Last year Central Works took the story of the three sisters in King Lear as the departure point for a hilarious new comedy. The same team is back again with a new comedy drawn from another of the Bard's classics-can you guess which one?

Written by Gary Graves and directed by Jan Zvaifler, featuring Rica Anderson, Sandra Schlechter, and Claudia Rosa*, with stage management by Florence Lee and Sabrina Kniffin*, costumes by Lauren Kaplan, lights by Mike Curtis, sets by Chad Owens and sound by Gregory Scharpen. "Rica Anderson's performances of remakes of some familiar soliloquies are priceless [in] Central Works' light, sometimes very funny, ...modern corporate culture take on Macbeth.":
--Robert Hurwitt, San Francisco Chronicle

"Sandy Schlechter hobbles and bobbles, knits and pokes, and is generally hilarious ...a good time, "twinned in nobility and honor" as Shakespeare might have said."
--Lisa Drostova, East Bay Express

"Gary Graves and the rest of the coven at Central Works have a rare knack for taking classic plays, simmering them down to the essentials, and tossing out the bulky pieces. This time the spell is cast on Macbeth, and what was once a sprawling tragedy is now a shrewd and teasing comedy, a chamber piece instead of an epic history...As ever, Central Works never loses the thread of the story, the acting is always lucid and quick, and the manipulation of the space - here, the incomparably gothic Berkeley City Club, so imposing, it's almost another character - is perfectly ingenious "
--Baghdachi, San Francisco Bay Guardian
